Piercing wearers often tend to panic if their piercing cannot be opened.

However, this is not necessary at all. There are quite a few helpful tricks and tips available that will lead to the body jewelry being able to be opened again quickly. The following article reveals what these are.

Helpful tips to open piercings

It is by no means rare that a piercing cannot be opened right away. This is especially true if the piece of jewelery has not been changed for a long time or if the first piercing is to be removed. In these cases, a certain amount of patience is required.

Wash hands and disinfect piercing

Basically, the hands should be washed carefully in the first step before the piercing is touched. In addition, prior disinfection of the piercing area makes sense. This is especially true in cases where the piercing has only recently been pierced or shows itself to be inflamed.

It is also important that the piercing ball is turned in the correct direction. To open the Piercings a counter-clockwise rotation is necessary - the rotation is therefore to the left. In order to securely close the piercing again afterwards, the ball must be moved in the opposite direction.

Practical helpers: tongs and toilet paper

In some cases, the piercer has pulled the ball very tightly, making it difficult to open the piercing. So not only a little patience is required, but also a certain amount of strength. Ideally, try to loosen the ball with a small pair of pliers. If you don't have pliers at hand, a little toilet paper can also help - this makes it easier to grip the ball of the piercing.

However, clean disposable gloves also ensure a better grip, so that the ball of the piercing can be unscrewed more easily. Should that Ear piercing or some other location that is difficult to reach, you may need the help of another person to open the piercing.

Do not use force to open freshly made piercings

If it is a fairly new piercing, it is not advisable to try to open it yourself. Depending on the type of piercing, it can take a few weeks or even months until it has completely healed and can therefore be replaced.

If the piercing appears to be inflamed and its removal is necessary as a result, this should only be done by the piercer. The same applies to the first change of jewelry after the piercing.

If the piercing cannot be opened even with the above helpful tips, the trusted piercer is also the right contact person. They can use sterile and special tools for the opening. In this way, the piercing can be opened again in no time at all without pain.
